Jay identifies more with robots than with people. Sometimes he would prefer to be one; machines don’t feel the pain of grief. Since the death of his fiancé a year ago, he has become increasingly detached from humanity, and sometimes, like tonight, from the will to live.
The field of android robotics has taken off. Jay tries to keep up but has never paid much attention to the porndroid industry. When he finds himself in front of a popular robobrothel, previously forbidden territory, curiosity compels him to investigate. Yet satisfying his curiosity would feel like dishonoring her memory.
But they’re just machines. It wouldn’t be like being with another woman.
